World Nutrition Day 2026: Eating well and ageing well through an implementation lens
28 May 2026
With the number of older adults living alone in Singapore more than doubling in the past decade, GERI has turned its attention to researching the diet quality of this vulnerable group.
While eating well is part of the recipe for ageing well, it is not just a matter of individual choice. For older adults who are socially isolated, eating well can take significant effort, as they experience many biopsychosocial barriers that affect their access to nutritious food options.
With the number of older adults living alone in Singapore more than doubling in the past decade, GERI has turned its attention to researching the diet quality of this vulnerable group. Our Research Fellow, Dr Zoe Lim, shares her thoughts on the trifecta of factors influencing dietary behaviours among socially isolated older adults, and how we should approach this challenge through a systems lens.
