Health Policy Brief on Brief Geriatric Assessments for Older Adults in the Community in Singapore

Early detection and assessment of geriatric syndromes and social issues play a critical role in helping older adults maintain their health and functional ability.

Researchers from GERI conducted a multi-method, three-phase study to explore how brief geriatric assessments (BGAs) could be implemented effectively in the community.

Findings suggest that BGAs can help to identify older adults with unmet needs or geriatric syndromes for further appropriate assessments.

Stakeholder dialogues further highlighted the importance of aligning BGAs with existing screening national screening frameworks.
