Research Brief
A case-finding approach using a brief cognitive screening tool to identify possible dementia among Singaporean older adults

---
Key Findings
A case-finding approach to dementia screening is preferable to a population-wide screening exercise.
The Eight-item Informant Interview to Differentiate Aging and Dementia (AD8) was the most studied brief cognitive screening instrument in Singapore, with the informant version (iAD8) being superior to the self-reported version (sAD8).
Performance-based instruments could still play a role, especially in situations where a reliable informant is unavailable.
Further investigation is needed on the appropriateness of iAD8 and performance-based instruments in a community setting.
