Research Brief
Effects of a multidisciplinary Geriatric Services Hub care model on health service utilisation
8 June 2025
---
Key Findings
Though not statistically significant, participation in a multidisciplinary Geriatric Services Hub (GSH) care model was associated with more primary care and specialist visits, but fewer emergency department visits and hospitalisations, within the first year of enrolment.
Larger prospective studies with longer follow-ups are needed as the anticipated reduction in healthcare use due to the GSH may take more time to actualise.
The GSH care model is being further developed to refine and enhance its utility.
