Research Brief
Effects of a multidisciplinary Geriatric Services Hub care model on health service utilisation
8 June 2025
---
Key Findings
- Though not statistically significant, participation in a multidisciplinary Geriatric Services Hub (GSH) care model was associated with more primary care and specialist visits, but fewer emergency department visits and hospitalisations, within the first year of enrolment.
- Larger prospective studies with longer follow-ups are needed as the anticipated reduction in healthcare use due to the GSH may take more time to actualise.
- The GSH care model is being further developed to refine and enhance its utility.
