Lifespace Mobility and Wayfinding Experience in Age-Friendly Neighbourhoods
Completed
Objective
To understand the daily activity engagement patterns among older adults, their experiences and needs in terms of design in their neighbourhoods and the connections between their health (physical, mental and social) and the neighbourhood built environment. Specific objectives are:
To understand and compare outdoor walking behaviour and life space mobility among community-dwelling older adults living with dementia (PWD) and persons without dementia (non-PWD) in terms of outdoor locomotion (walking activity) and daily movement activity patterns.
To understand and compare the person-environment interaction in the local neighbourhoods among community-dwelling PWD and non-PWD.
To establish which unique features of the built environment help or hinder community-dwelling PWD's wayfinding abilities and how these abilities relate to their neuropsychological deficits.
