Positive relationship between Social Frailty and Functional Disability
Completed
Objective
We operationalised a social frailty (SF) phenotype (living arrangement, education, socioeconomic status, social network and social support) in local community-dwelling older adults aged 55y and above based on available literature. We found that SF phenotype alone or in combination with the more established physical frailty (PF) has clinical relevance and utility for identifying and stratifying older people at-risk for disability. The SF index is best used in combination with PF in accurately identifying older adults at risk of functional disability. ( J Am Med Dir Assoc. 18(7):637 e13-e19, 2017)
