VIDEO-COM: VIDEO Consultations for Older Adults with Multimorbidity during COVID-19 Pandemic
Completed
Objective
During the COVID-19 pandemic, older adults are encouraged to stay home to minimise risks of contagion. This has thrusted the need for remote consultations into the limelight. Many older adults with multiple chronic conditions (multimorbidity) require regular follow-up with clinicans. In this scenario, video consultations offer much promise as a potential substitute for in-person consultations, both during the pandemic and beyond. The proposed study will examine stakeholder views on a primary care video consultation service piloted during the pandemic, with a view to informing its possible future large-scale implementation. This study focuses on community-dwelling older adults with multimorbidity as they have complicated healthcare needs and the challenges that they may face in adopting this technological innovation have yet to be explored.
